Description: Over six, four-hour sessions, students will learn and demonstrate layout/marking techniques and use of saws, chisels and planes to make common joints: lap, mortise/tenon and dovetail.  Hand tool purchase and maintenance will be reviewed.   Changes to course goals may be made based on student preferences.

Level: Intermediate


Prerequisites: Age > 18; Sharpening or Intro to Hand Tool A/B strongly suggested. 

Format: 6 sessions, each 4 hours

Projects you will make: shooting board, multiple practice joints

Cost: $500 and $35 SDFWA membership



Special Instructions for this class: A tool list will be provided prior to class;  some tools will be provided by the shop.



Refund policy:

  1. Up to two weeks notice: Full refund
  2. Up to one week notice: 50% refund
  3. Less than one week notice or failure to appear: No refund or credit
  4. Class canceled: Full refund or credit

If a class does not have an adequate number of registered students one week prior to the posted start date, the class may be canceled.
