Learn the safety and basics of turning.  The class concludes by making a tool handle, applying a ferrule and a finish.

In this class, students will learn:

  • The safety and basics of turning  
  • Lathe components and turning tools
  • Tool sharpening and use 
  • How to perform the basic cuts on spindles: V-groove, coves and beads

The class concludes with the student making a tool handle, including the application of a ferrule and a finish.  This class will help prepare you to get the certification necessary to use the shop lathes.

Cost: $125
Membership Requirements: SDFWA
Class Schedule: One 5-hour shop session
Prerequisites: None

If a class does not have an adequate number of registered students one week prior to the posted start date, the class may be canceled.
