Description: This course is designed to introduce new woodworkers to the tools and techniques in measuring and marking wood in preparation for hand or machine tools.  Students will practice using squares, rulers and other measuring tools.  Students will describe the meaning of symbols used in woodworking plans and practice transferring plans, along with angles, circles, and arcs, from print to wood. 


Level: Beginner

Prerequisite: age 18+ 

Format: 1 four-hour session

Cost: $75 and  $35 SDFWA  member


Special instruction for this class: Bring pencils, ruler, squares and other measuring equipment you have.  A tool list will be sent out before class. 


Membership RequirementsFor insurance purposes, this class requires membership in the San Diego Fine Woodworkers Association.  Annual dues are $35.  If you are not already a member, please join https://sdfwa.org/memberships">here.  For insurance reasons, all SDFWA classes require students to be at least 18 years old.


Refund policy:

  1. Up to two weeks notice: Full refund
  2. Up to one week notice: 50% refund or credit
  3. Less than one week notice or failure to appear: No refund or credit
  4. Class canceled: Full refund
