Prerequisites: Intro to Turning A
In this class the student will learn:
- Lathe and tool safety
- Tool sharpening
- Bowl gouge use and introduction of the four basic cuts: Push cuts, pull cuts, scraping cuts, and the shear scrape
- How to make a dovetail tenon to fit a four jaw chuck
- Using a lathe-mounted drill chuck.
The class concludes with the making of a weed vase project and preparing a jam chuck to be used for bowl making. This class will give the student the skills needed to move on to the bowl turning class. Students must have completed Introduction to Turning A to enroll in this class.
Class Schedule: One, five-hour session
Prerequisites: Intro to Turning A
For insurance reasons, all SDFWA classes require students to be at least 18 years old.
Membership Requirements: For insurance purposes, this class requires membership in the San Diego Fine Woodworkers Association. Annual dues are $35. If you are not already a member, please join here.
Cost: $150
Refund policy:
- Up to two weeks notice: Full refund
- Up to one week notice: 50% refund
- Failure to appear: No refund
- Class canceled: Full refund
If a class does not have an adequate number of registered students one week prior to the posted start date, the class may be canceled.
