Class - 413 - Introduction to Rotary Engraving (Winter - February)

This class will allow you to use the laser to engrave on a cylindrical object.  Students will learn how to prepare the laser machine, safely mount the rotary device on the machine bed, align the rotary device to the X axis, properly mount a cylinder on the rotary device, safely focus the laser, learn how to adjust designs for nonparallel cylinders, how to apply the adjustments in design in LightBurn, and properly execute the engraving job from the Ruida controller.


Class Schedule: One, two-hour class


Prerequisites: Class 411 Introduction to Laser Cutting (with new lasers) or Laser re-certified on new lasers


For insurance reasons, all SDFWA classes require students to be at least 18 years old.

Membership Requirements: For insurance purposes, this class requires membership in the San Diego Fine Woodworkers Association.  Annual dues are $35.  If you are not already a member, please join here:  https://sdfwa.org/memberships


Cost: $75


Refund policy:

  1. Up to two weeks notice: Full refund
  2. Up to one week notice: 50% refund
  3. Less than one week notice or failure to appear: No refund or credit
  4. Class canceled: Full refund or credit
If a class does not have an adequate number of registered students one week prior to the posted start date, the class may be canceled.
